Description

The State Board for Educator Certification will require all first time applicants for an initial credential to be fingerprinted as part of a national criminal background check.   A $50.20 fingerprinting fee will be charged once hired.

Primary Purpose:
The temporary Interpreter/Translator will provide Interpretation Services in English to Korean and vice versa in different settings and meetings with special emphasis in Special Education and Parent-Teacher conferences, and other meetings as needed by the District in the schools and departments throughout the Leander School District.  The position requires background check and fingerprinting paid by applicant.

  • Previous knowledge of educational areas with emphasis, but not limited to, Special Education and its terminology.
  • Maintain an emotional balance in all type of situations and maintain professional rigor. 

General Qualification Guidelines

Education/Certification/Experience:
  • Bilingual English-Korean with native proficiency preferred.
  • Bachelor degree in areas of Education, Art, English or Communications preferred.
  • Previous and proven experience as Translator/Interpreter.
  • Excellent oral and written skills in both English and Korean with proper use of grammar, and knowledgeable of correct use of advanced vocabulary for academic settings, test may be required.

Working conditions
  • Interpreter/Translator should provide their own transportation
  • Ability to be on time to meetings scheduled and assigned in the places designated by Supervisor.
  • Mileage is not included in this position
  • Interpreter/Translator should provide their own technology equipment (laptop, computer, cell phone)
  • Availability during school and business hours and accessible to accept meeting assignments in person and remotely
