POSITION SUMMARY

The Supply Chain Supervisor position reports to the Supply Chain Manager and oversees the finished goods inventory accuracy with a focus on validating the prior day's production counts by package and flavor.  In addition, this position supervises the Label Coordinator Administrator and Raw Materials Inventory Clerk. This position is responsible for the Food Safety and Food Quality programs. 

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES (essential functions of the job)

Responsibilities include:

  • Validate the prior day's finished goods production, including reviewing scheduled production versus actual production and verifying any production discrepancies greater than five (5) percent.
  • Review formula recovery and validate counts versus what is reported for formula recovery.
  • Ability to use an inventory reporting system (QAD).
  • Adjust work orders in QAD for any count discrepancies and communicate to impacted departments when it is complete.
  • Complete random cycle counts on the finished product.   Determine which items to cycle count and at what frequency.  Input cycle counts in QAD, and informs impacted departments of any significant cycle count adjustments.
  • Review and check finished goods for quality issues and identify any damaged product, coding and the process of FIFO is followed.   Determine corrective action to correct recordkeeping.
  • Prepare trend analysis for downtime.
  • Understand productivity calculations to understand measures and set targets.
  • Prioritize work to support customer service.
  • Ability to understand financial reports and make decisions based on cost.  
  • Ability to understand inventory principles to keep accurate inventories.  Use problem-solving skills to figure out inventory discrepancies issues associated with product data in QAD and what is physically in the warehouse; utilize Root Cause Analysis on why data integrity is wrong in QAD.
  • Train new employees that are hired in the work area assigned

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES (If applicable)

  • Supervises Label Coordinator Administrator and Raw Materials Inventory Clerk
  • Assure the incumbents demonstrate appropriate levels of job knowledge and skills required to perform their job effectively; provide motivation, follow-up, and training as required to meet all team-building and performance development needs, and maintenance of work area cleanliness standards.
  • Monitor employee productivity and provide constructive feedback, coaching, counseling, and disciplining; conducting training; implementing enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications.
  • Communicates job expectations; planning, monitoring, and assessing job results; coaching, and counseling employees; developing, coordinating, and enforcing systems, procedures, and productivity standards.
  • Establishes strategic goals; identifying and evaluating trends; choosing a course of action; defining objectives; evaluating outcomes.
  • Lead and support a food safety and food quality culture within the location
  • Establish, document, and communicate to all relevant staff of food safety and quality objectives and performance measure
  • Empower and encourage employees to act to resolve food safety and quality issues within their scope of work
  • Implement, maintain, and continuously improve the food safety and quality culture within the location
  • Effectively communicate all key performance indicators and objectives to employees
  • Ensure staffing and adequate resources are maintained to meet objectives 
  • Educate all staff to understand the importance of food safety and food quality controls and deviation consequences.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

 

Minimum Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent required; 
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or equivalent education and work experience.
  • Two years of production planning experience in a plant environment which includes CIP, Lean Manufacturing, and Supply Chain environments.
  • Possesses an understanding of production scheduling and procedures, production runs data and analysis of data, and supply chain principles.
  • Six months supervisory experience.
  • Forklift certification.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS

This position requires sufficient physical ability to work in a typical office setting; driving a motor vehicle and occasionally working in the field.

 

FREQUENT:  Ability to talk and hear; ability to sit for prolonged periods to perform computer and administrative work, stand, walk, climb stairs, stoop, bend and/or crouch; use of hands and fingers to operate machinery/equipment and all manual and electronic equipment in area of responsibility.   Exposure to wet and humid conditions and fluctuations in ambient temperature (seasonal).

 

OCCASIONAL:  Squatting, kneeling, ability to reach above and at shoulder height; ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds.  Exposure to toxic and corrosive chemicals.

 

VISION:  Ability to use close and distance vision, as well as color and peripheral vision with or without correction.  

 

HEARING:  Ability to hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.  Exposure to noise levels from machinery horns, bottle lines and exhaust fans.
