At Kraton, we make a Positive Difference, and we are looking for individuals who are also looking to make a difference in their jobs, for our customers and to the world.  We are looking to hire a key member of our Finance team at our Global Headquarters located in The Woodlands, Texas. 

 

Reporting to the CFO, the Chief Accounting Officer will serve as the Company's principal accounting officer, responsible for all accounting, reporting, internal controls, financial and related regulatory processes, accounting research and analysis, and other financial matters.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provides strategic input on financial planning ensuring alignment of accounting practices with the company's long-term goals.
  • Responsible for assuring the overall integrity and efficiency of the Company's accounting function and as such, will ensure the appropriate financial controls are in place and in compliance with all regulations.
  • Oversee the financial reporting process, including the preparation of consolidated financial statements, and those reports and information required for Company leadership and the Board of Directors' Audit Committee and all other regulatory financial reporting required.
  • Lead the development and management of global Accounting/Controllership organization.
  • Manage and ensure compliant monthly, quarterly, and year-end close of the Company's financial results and ensure compliance with IFRS/US GAAP and with local, statutory reporting requirements, and oversee all relevant accounting task for tax requirements.  
  • Participate in and provide specific accounting and financial expertise with the Board of Directors' Audit Committee meetings, as well as present financial results and other specific accounting and finance issues.
  • Integrate with and provide direction and support of other key finance leadership team activities.
  • Ownership for all key internal controls to ensure compliance with the Company's policies and procedures and overall compliance with financial reporting rules and regulations and serve as the key coordination point for external auditors of financial data. 

 

The Chief Accounting Officer will regularly interface with, among others: Audit Committee, Board of Directors, Outside Auditors, Kraton Leadership Team, Other Financial Team Members, Legal department, Information Technology team, and Business Leaders.

Required Skills
  • 15+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, including management-level experience in a complex, multinational accounting environment within manufacturing.
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of IFRS, GAAP and SEC requirements, as well as tax provision accounting requirements.
  • Solid operational experience is highly desirable, including the ability to continuously improve accounting policies and practices within a standard cost environment.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, complex work environment with the ability to adapt to changes and competing priorities.
  • Demonstrated strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills; can balance business priorities with required accounting principles and can present complex issues from a business point of view.
  • Ideally should be proficient working with integrated ERP systems (Company uses SAP).
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate a message, provide clear direction and carve through complexities and deliver them well.
  • A strategic presentation style is essential – one which can be tailored to different audiences, to both communicate the numbers and influence the outcome - for internal teams, senior leadership, and Board of Directors.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage / lead a diverse team.
  • “Big 4” public accounting experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of international accounting practices and operational accounting experience.
  • Champions continuous improvement within the team and able to influence outcomes within the business.
Education, Certifications & Licenses
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting is required
  • CPA required
  • MBA is a plus
  • Tax knowledge/experience is also a plus.
