Description

Summary
This position is responsible for welding or joining metal components or to fill holes, indentations, or seams of fabricated metal products by use of hand-welding and/or flame-cutting equipment

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Operate MIG welder
  • Follow written and verbal work instructions as provided by the welding supervisor
  • Review and study the blueprints provided for each job
  • Inspect material to be welded to verify they can be welding according to specifications provided
  • Report any defect or non-conforming part to the dept. lead immediately
  • Perform functional/aesthetic welding beads
  • Ability to weld fittings/etc. into fabricated steel components
  • Use or request jigs as needed prior to welding
  • Operate robotic welder as required
  • Monitor purchased items required for welding and advise supervisor when orders need to be placed
  • Use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to perform job responsibilities safely and efficiently

Other Duties and Responsibilities
  • General clean-up/maintenance of work station(s)
  • Material handling/movement of sub-assemblies to proper station(s)
  • Additional manufacturing tasks as required/instructed by supervisor(s)


Job Requirements
  • Ability to read tape measure/clamps and convert fractions to decimal measurements
  • Ability to read and use measuring equipment, including micrometers and calipers
  • Must be detail-oriented
  • Must be self-motivated and team oriented
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, supervisors and other departments
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions
  • Ability to read and follow blueprints
  • Specific vision aptitudes required for this job, including close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus
  • Must wear steel toed shoes and safety glasses in all plant facilities

Education/Training/Experience 
Some experience in a manufacturing environment; 1-2 years of welding experience preferred

Physical Demands
  • Regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms
  • Regularly talk and hear
  • Regularly see using close and distant vision
  • Occasionally walk, climb, balance, bend, lift, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl
  • Regularly lift and /or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50-70 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds with assistance
