Position Overview
A technology operations team is seeking an experienced System/Software Technician to ensure smooth distributed computing and telecommunications network operations. This role works collaboratively within a technical team to support computer systems, workstations, peripheral equipment, networks, and communications infrastructure. The technician will also perform basic programming, documentation, and testing, providing timely support for users' software and hardware needs to ensure continuous system availability. Key Responsibilities
- Support the operation and maintenance of computer systems, workstations, peripheral devices, and communication network equipment.
- Assist with basic programming, system documentation, and software/hardware testing.
- Perform troubleshooting and provide support for users regarding both software and hardware to maintain uninterrupted operations.
- Provide foundational support for local and wide area networks, including transmission, switching, signaling, and routing aspects.
- Uphold data security policies and practices to support the protection of information systems and networks.
- Identify and resolve simple network server problems, assisting in the management of LAN performance.
- Contribute to ongoing technology projects and team initiatives as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of computer operations, basic programming, and documentation/testing processes.
- Familiarity with computer hardware, operating systems, and software applications in a distributed computing environment.
- Understanding of telecommunication network infrastructure (transmission, switching, routing, signaling).
- Awareness of data and system security best practices, policies, and tools.
- Ability to troubleshoot and address routine network/server issues and LAN environment management.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
