The Strategic Account Manager (SAM) is responsible for managing a select portfolio of high-value customers with strong potential for multi-product adoption. This role delivers a premium customer experience and positions the organization as a trusted strategic partner—not just a vendor. The SAM will lead business reviews, act as a solution consultant, and drive growth through proactive engagement, upsell opportunities, and seamless renewals.
Core Mission
- Deepen Customer Relationships: Build trust and loyalty through proactive, value-driven interactions.
- Drive Growth: Identify and execute upsell and cross-sell opportunities to maximize account potential.
- Ensure Retention: Manage renewals with precision to maintain and grow recurring revenue.
Renewal Management
- Proactively manage the renewal process for a small, strategic subset of accounts.
- Ensure timely and successful contract renewals with minimal friction.
- Collaborate with internal teams and partners to resolve issues impacting renewal success.
- Conduct regular business reviews to understand customer goals and challenges.
- Act as a solution consultant, aligning product offerings with customer needs.
- Reinforce solution value and position the organization as a long-term strategic partner.
- Identify upsell and cross-sell opportunities during renewal cycles and business reviews.
- Develop tailored proposals to expand product adoption and share of wallet.
- Maintain accurate records of renewal status, customer interactions, and upsell outcomes in CRM systems.
- Analyze renewal trends and provide actionable insights to improve retention and growth strategies.
- Achieve or exceed renewal rate and upsell targets.
- Contribute to overall customer satisfaction and long-term account health.
- Proven experience in account management, customer success, or solution consulting within SaaS or technology environments.
- Strong business acumen with the ability to conduct strategic business reviews.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Proficiency with CRM tools and data-driven account planning.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
