The Storage Facility Associate (Level I) provides assistance and coordination of daily operation of the off-site Retail Storage Facility of the Corning Museum of Glass (Museum). Handles merchandise and assists in organizing and preparing items for storage and sale.
Responsibilities (Essential functions denoted with *)
Shipping and Receiving
- Break down deliveries and organize merchandise by item groups and stages for handling.*
- Verify that items are in satisfactory condition.*
- Perform ticketing of all merchandise with price tags based on the department's standard operating procedures.*
- Communicate all ticketing and quality issues appropriately.*
- Actively and intentionally support CMOG's commitment to diversity, equity, accessibility, and inclusion.
- Adhere to all safety, housekeeping, customer service, operating, and accounting policies and procedures.*
- Assist in the protection and control of all Museum assets against damage and theft.*
- Actively participate in Retail team meetings as requested.
- One (1) year experience in a similar role preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft office suite of products; knowledge of or ability to learn Counter Point POS.
- Respect and exemplify the mission, vision, and values of the Corning Museum of Glass in all interactions with colleagues, staff, volunteers and the public.
- Represent the Museum in a professional manner.
- Adhere to all prescribed organizational and departmental policies and procedures.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Clearly and accurately communicate both verbally and in writing.
- Work with people from a variety of cultures; maintain an appropriate voice for diverse audiences.
- Process multiple transactions and tasks at a time under the pressure of deadlines.
- Work independently and as part of a team; strong collaboration skills.
- Some weekends, evenings and holidays required; flexibility in hours necessary.

While performing the duties of this job, the individual is regularly required to operate/use equipment, communicate, and detect/distinguish. The individual is frequently required to remain in a stationary position, move about, and reach for up to 8 hours a day. The individual is occasionally required to ascend/descend and position oneself. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, and peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to distinguish color and adjust focus.
The individual is required to move/transport up to 50 pounds.
The work environment is frequently indoor and both climate and not climate controlled (warehouse environment), work near moving mechanical parts, and work in high precarious places. The work environment is occasionally near odors, fumes and airborne particles, and outdoor weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
