Job Summary We are seeking a skilled Stitcher Operator to set-up and run a Heidelberg Stitchmaster ST270 in our Bindery department. The ideal candidate will maximize equipment efficiency by utilizing helpers and keeping production running smoothly at all times. This is our most complex bindery role, requiring precision, thorough understanding of bindery equipment, and a proactive attitude. Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Thoroughly read and understand the job ticket before starting any job.
- Compare stitched books upon final trim with supplied proofs to ensure accuracy prior to receiving approval to run.
- Complete and follow all quality control checklists before each run.
- Maintain and service the Heidelberg Stitchmaster according to provided stitcher maintenance guidelines.
- Make precise and minute adjustments as needed during setup and make-ready processes.
- Use helpers effectively to keep the equipment running and productive.
- Adhere to all company safety rules, including replacing safety guards after adjustments.
- Ability to read, write legibly, and understand written and oral instructions.
- Competency in reading a ruler and matching dimensions to project specifications.
- Proven ability to set-up and operate a Heidelberg Stitchmaster ST270 or similar equipment.
- Skilled in making critical, small adjustments to bindery machinery.
- Physical ability to kneel, crouch, and lift up to 70 pounds.
- Capable of working with minimal supervision and taking initiative to maximize productivity.
- Regular and predictable attendance is essential.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Five years of bindery experience is desired.
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test.
- Excellent attitude, self-starter mentality, and a team player approach required.
