Staff Accountant
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. | Hybrid work available Mondays & Fridays
Type: Temp-to-Hire
Kelly Services looking for a detail-driven Staff Accountant to join our clients finance team in St. Charles, MO. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys digging into numbers, collaborating across departments, and contributing to process improvement. The position offers room for professional development, with a clear path toward leadership and managerial advancement.
In this role, you'll analyze financial data, prepare reports, and partner with internal teams and external stakeholders to support strategic business decisions. You'll regularly collaborate with operations, sales, and other departments to ensure financial accuracy and provide meaningful insights.
Key Responsibilities-
Prepare, examine, and reconcile accounting records, financial statements, and reports to ensure accuracy and compliance.

Maintain the general ledger, including account setup, monthly and quarterly closing procedures, and reconciliations.

Translate financial data into actionable insights and recommendations for management.

Partner with commercial and operations teams to provide financial analysis, expense tracking, and budget-to-actual reporting.

Participate in annual budgeting and long-range planning, with a focus on departmental expenses.

Match, code, and post customer payments to the Accounts Receivable ledger.

Manage financial oversight of the company's vehicle fleet (insurance, maintenance, and leases) and train new hires on related procedures.

Assist internal and external auditors by preparing documentation and responding to inquiries.

Support financial process documentation and internal control compliance in accordance with US GAAP.

Lead or contribute to projects and initiatives focused on continuous improvement and operational efficiency.
Education
-
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business Administration (Accounting emphasis required).

CPA certification or progress toward CPA preferred.
Experience
-
1–2 years of professional accounting experience; audit background is a plus.

Prior experience with ERP systems preferred.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.

Highly organized and capable of managing multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).

Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams.

Sound knowledge of US GAAP and its practical application.

Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
