TITLE:                       SR. EHS Specialist – Environmental

FUNCTION:              EHS

SCOPE:                     Local

REPORTS TO:         PSM Manager or EHS Director

JOB SUMMARY:     Responsible for implementing and supervising EHS activities while raising employee awareness. Responsible for a specific function or specialized field within EHS.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
 

• Manage waste management/water program and sustainability (primarily), and support air and EHS to assure compliance with environmental and safety regulations and to control compliance costs
• Ensure environmental programs comply with state, federal and local regulations and provide technical expertise in these fields
• Responsible for identifying and driving sustainability improvements (air, water, waste, energy)
• Responsible for the timely preparation, submittal, and maintenance of required records, permits, and reports, in accordance with established guidelines by local, state, and federal agencies and corporate guidelines
• Support conformance with PSM (Process Safety Management) and RC (Responsible Care) standards
• Assist plant operations and technical services in process troubleshooting, project reviews, change management, and other areas

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE MINIMUMS:
           

• B.S. Degree in Chemical or Environmental Engineering
• M.S. degree and/or Certified Safety Professional is a plus

EXPERIENCE:
 

• Industrial or Chemical Industry Environment Experience – minimum 4 years
• Environmental/ Regulatory Experience – minimum 4 years

 
SKILLS/ABILITIES:

Demonstrate a knowledge of plant Engineering, process engineering and process safety management
Demonstrate familiarity with OSHA PSM and EPA RMP requirements.
Demonstrate understanding of state and federal regulatory laws
Demonstrate strong computer skills (Afton's routine EHS applications like Gensuite)
Demonstrate oral and written communication skills which are clear, concise and effective
Able to handle several projects and tasks simultaneously
Demonstrate effective organizational and time management skills
Demonstrate effective interpersonal skills Detail Oriented - Ability to pay attention to the minute details of a project or task.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, SAP, Gensuite
