Shipping Clerk
Paris, KY

Schedule: Monday – Thursday, 5:00 AM – 3:30 PM (mandatory overtime on Friday)
Pay Range: $20 – $24 per hour
Duration: Permanent OR Temp to Hire depending on the candidate and experience

Job Summary

The Shipping Clerk is responsible for preparing, verifying, and processing outgoing shipments to ensure accuracy and on-time delivery. This role requires attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and effective coordination with carriers, customer service, and warehouse staff.

Key Duties

Shipment Preparation & Documentation

  • Prepare Bills of Lading and shipping labels.

  • Verify orders against packing lists before shipping.

  • Ensure packaging meets company and carrier requirements.

Carrier Coordination

  • Schedule and coordinate freight pick-ups with carriers.

  • Provide accurate freight quotes when required.

  • Track shipments and provide status updates to customer service.

Accuracy & Compliance

  • Check for shipping errors and correct before dispatch.

  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and company shipping regulations.

  • Assist in freight claims processing for damages or shortages.

Daily Administrative Duties

  • Enter shipment details into ERP/portal systems.

  • File shipping records and maintain accurate documentation.

  • Communicate with customer service, brokers, and carriers regarding daily shipments.

Qualifications
  • 1–3 years of experience as a shipping clerk

  • Familiarity with Bills of Lading, routing, and freight quotes.

  • Ability to read and interpret shipping documents and work orders.

  • Basic computer and ERP system proficiency.

  • Strong communication and organizational skills.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and operate material handling equipment as needed.
