Job Title: Shipping/Receiving Associate
Rate of Pay: $17+ DOE
Schedule: 6-4:30pm
Location: Kirkville, NY

Job Summary:
The Shipping Associate is responsible for preparing, packaging, documenting, and coordinating daily shipments in accordance with customer requirements and company procedures. This role ensures accurate order fulfillment, safe handling of materials, inventory accuracy, and timely delivery while maintaining compliance with safety and quality standards. Essential Functions:

  • Prepare parts required for daily shipments according to Open Orders or direction provided by Sales or Production, ensuring compliance with customer shipping requirements.
  • Prepare shipping documentation in accordance with established procedures, including proper labeling of parts and pallets.
  • Process UPS and FedEx shipments accurately and efficiently.
  • Package parts as required per work instructions and quality standards.
  • Arrange daily truck pickups and coordinate special shipments through logistics providers.
  • Track and investigate lost shipments as necessary.
  • Collaborate with customers and internal departments to resolve shipping issues and prevent recurrence.
  • Communicate shipping discrepancies to Customer Service in a timely manner.
  • Inspect parts as required and quarantine suspect products according to established procedures.
  • Maintain accurate finished goods inventory records.
  • Train other employees as assigned.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Maintain and update the shipping manual.
  • Maintain files, bulletin boards, and routing cards related to daily shipments.
  • Assist with organizing and maintaining packaged parts inventory.
  • Ensure department supplies (boxes, tape, labels, pallets, etc.) are stocked at optimal levels.
  • Perform housekeeping duties to keep work areas clean, organized, and free of debris.
  • Conduct daily safety inspections of equipment and use proper lifting techniques.
  • Provide coverage for Receiving and Secondary/Packaging departments as needed.
  • Follow all company policies, procedures, and safety rules as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Supervisor or Manager.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Proficient in using computers and the internet to generate shipping documents and labels.
  • Ability to use scales accurately for preparing boxes and bins for shipment.
  • Proficient in the use of hand pallet jacks and forklifts to transport materials.
  • Basic understanding of LTL (Less-Than-Truckload) shipping procedures.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills with excellent attention to detail.
Education, Training, and Experience:
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Forklift experience required
  • 1–3 years of experience in a warehouse or shipping environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
