Senior Product Development Engineer
Duncan, SC
Direct Hire – Hybrid onsite/remote
$95,000 - $120,000

Kelly Engineering is seeking an experienced Senior Product Development Engineer to lead the design and development of OSP (Outside Plant) fiber optic products for our client in Duncan, SC. This role involves managing projects from concept to commercialization, ensuring superior product performance and quality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop new OSP and ISP fiber optic products.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to develop product specifications and requirements.
  • Conduct product design, detailing, fitment verifications, and create manufacturing drawings.
  • Perform tolerance analysis and CAD model evaluations.
  • Coordinate and build engineering prototypes for design verification.
  • Lead testing, process, materials, capital, and quality improvement projects.
  • Define product testing requirements and develop testing plans.
  • Direct post-design verification testing analysis for design improvements.
  • Apply DFx principles (Design for Manufacturing, Design for Assembly).
  • Complete DFMEA/PFMEA (Design/Process Failure Modes Effects Analysis).
  • Utilize engineering analysis for data-driven design decisions.
  • Interface with cross-functional teams throughout product development.
  • Provide product design, application, and fiber expertise to customers.

Qualifications:
  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • 8+ years in new product development.
  • Proficient in parametric solid modeling (SolidWorks preferred).
  • Experience with various manufacturing techniques and sheet metal or molded plastic part design.
  • Experience with ISO-9001 quality management systems.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.
  • Proven ability to lead projects through a formal stage-gate process.
  • Demonstrated ability to create innovative solutions and designs.
