Job Description:

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in our cutting-edge technology development team. You will lead new product development activities, from planning and executing verification testing to resolving build issues and scoping product revisions. This position requires designing for reliability, cost-efficiency, assembly, and maintenance. Reporting to the CTO, you will collaborate closely with engineers and research associates who drive the various workflows essential to our company's success.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the electromechanical development and validation of novel approaches to automate laboratory protocols, such as microbial DNA extraction.
  • Scope, plan, direct, and execute product verification testing, and determine next steps for resolving issues.
  • Collaborate with other engineers to identify optimal integration and systems engineering techniques.
  • Scope and plan new prototype revisions, including design for manufacturing, cost reduction, production transfer, and pilot builds.
  • Assist in the identification, vetting, and management of product development and contract manufacturing partners.
  • Contribute to detailed new product development plans, timelines, and budgets.

Preferred Skills and Competencies:

  • Expertise with SolidWorks and complex assemblies.
  • Proficient in the execution of Design for Manufacturing (DFM) strategies.
  • Experience in medical, diagnostic, laboratory, or consumer device development and/or machine manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with design controls and quality management systems (e.g., GMP).
  • Highly flexible and adaptable to rapidly changing conditions.
  • 5+ years' experience in relevant mechanical engineering and/or manufacturing engineering roles.
