Senior Cost Accountant

Kelly is seeking a Senior Cost Accountant to work with our client, an innovative and growth-oriented manufacturing organization, on a direct hire basis. The Senior Cost Accountant will:

  • Investigate, analyze, and report on transactions and manufacturing variances in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Collaborate with manufacturing and engineering
  • Maintain the accuracy and reliability of BOMs and routings
  • Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and analysis for all inventory-related activities including material consumption, labor and overhead
  • Perform settlement process to cost inventory production
  • Assist in the development of direct labor, absorption, and overhead rates used for annual standard cost rolls
  • Assist in the preparation of weekly and monthly operational reports focusing on key performance indicators
  • Analyze aged, obsolete, and excess inventory to establish reserves in accordance with corporate policy
  • Maintain fixed assets ledgers and monitor status of capital projects to ensure proper accounting treatment
  • Coordinate with IT department for system issues, maintenance, and development such as production, purchasing, accounts payable, accounts receivable, receiving, shipping, and other
  • Collaborate with operation and supply chain teams to optimize inventory management and cost control
  • Support month-end close process, including journal entries related to inventory and fixed assets
  • Assist with all audits
  • Prepare monthly cost reports and assist in budget preparation
Qualification:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 5+ years of experience in cost accounting
  • Advanced MS Excel skills: Advance formula creation, data analysis, visualization, pivot table and charts, macro development, modelling/forecasting, database functions, power queries, dashboard creation, data integration, Excel power tools such as power pivot, power view, and power map
  • Proficient in MS Office products; highly proficient with SAP
  • Excellent organizational and follow-through skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong collaborator and teamwork abilities
