What's a typical day as a Senior Billing and Account Specialist?

You'll be responsible for:

  • Managing invoicing, collections, and reconciliation for sponsored research awards

  • Monitoring accounts and resolving billing or collection issues in collaboration with sponsors and university departments

  • Reviewing and interpreting award documents to ensure compliance with sponsor invoicing requirements

  • Creating and submitting invoices through various electronic sponsor portals

  • Maintaining positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders throughout the billing lifecycle

  • Supporting the Associate Director of Cash Management with guidance and operational support

  • Performing advanced data analysis and contributing to strategic initiatives and special projects

This job might be an outstanding fit if you have:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field

  • 5–8 years of professional experience, preferably in a university, research, finance, or customer service environment

  • Exceptional organizational, time management, and communication skills (written and verbal)

  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to multitask and prioritize competing deadlines

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities

  • A proactive, self-starting, and diplomatic work style

  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills, including complex formulas for data analysis

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a small, collegial team

Preferred Skills
  • Experience analyzing detailed financial records

  • Familiarity with legacy accounting systems

  • Experience working with SAP

  • Schedule: Onsite during training; hybrid thereafter (1–2 days onsite)

  • Contract: 4 months

  • Pay Rate: $47.62/hr
