Research Associate, In vivo Studies
Thousand Oaks, CA | Contract | $35-45/hr
Join our dynamic team as a Research Associate - In Vivo, where you'll contribute to pioneering in vivo studies that advance groundbreaking therapeutic solutions for cardiometabolic and neurological disorders. Leverage your expertise in animal models and pharmacology to drive innovation in our cutting-edge research projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary scientific teams, including discovery specialists and biology team members.
- Perform pharmacology (PD) and pharmacokinetic (PK) studies in rodent models (mice and rats) to evaluate therapeutic candidates, utilizing multiple readouts.
- Contribute to the design, planning, and execution of in vivo studies focused on mechanisms of action, early exploratory indications, tolerability, PK/PD, and therapeutic efficacy.
- Utilize hands-on in vivo skills for standard procedures such as rodent handling, blood collection, multiple routes of dosing and injections (IV, IP, SC, PO), urine collection, necropsies, and tissue collection, ensuring compliance with IACUC protocols and AAALAC regulations.
- Experience with stereotactic surgery in rodent models of neurological diseases is preferred, though not necessary.
- Prepare facilities and sterilize instruments for animal procedures.
- Maintain precise records of experiments and procedures in alignment with approved company guidelines.
- Experience with biomarker assessment (e.g., Luminex, PCR, ELISA) in animal tissues and cell extracts is preferred.
- Excellent organizational and lab management skills are essential.
- Demonstrate comfort with both verbal and written communication tasks.
- Be a proactive team player who can support the generation and handling of experimental samples.
- B.Sc or M.Sc with a minimum of 3+ years of research experience.
- Strong background in in vivo studies, specifically with rodent models.
- Preferably experienced in molecular biology techniques, including ELISAs, protein extraction from cell cultures and animal tissues, and the Luminex-based multiplex platform.
- Superior organizational and leadership skills, along with a comprehensive understanding of lab equipment, procedures, day-to-day laboratory functions, and strict adherence to laboratory safety guidelines.
- Proficient with basic lab software, such as Microsoft Office, GraphPad Prism, and ELN for record keeping.
- Collarative and broad-thinking capabilities.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of effectively presenting findings to others.
