R&D Lab Technician

Location: Starts in Brea, CA – Lab relocating to Pomona, CA in May
Schedule: Primarily onsite with 1–2 WFH days/week depending on lab needs. Standard hours are 8–5, but start/end times are flexible based on your preference.
Pay Rate: $27–$32/hour (based on relevant experience)
Contract: 6 months with potential for extension based on performance and business needs

A leading medical device company specializing in orthodontics and dental innovation is seeking an R&D Lab Technician to support the development of new materials, processes, and products. This opportunity offers a chance to work in a regulated, collaborative R&D environment alongside engineering, quality, regulatory, and manufacturing teams.

This role will be based in Brea, CA through April and then transition to the Pomona, CA site starting in May. Candidates should be comfortable with the location change. While the position is primarily onsite, there is some flexibility to work remotely 1–2 days per week depending on current lab and testing needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform engineering testing and analysis using a variety of lab fixtures and tools
  • Prepare test samples and conduct mechanical testing using Instron systems and Blue Hill software
  • Record and analyze data following GLP (Good Lab Practices) and GDP (Good Documentation Practices)
  • Summarize experimental results and provide feedback on test methods and lab practices
  • Maintain organization and cleanliness within the lab
  • Collaborate with engineers and other cross-functional team members on NPD and sustaining efforts

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED is required
  • Candidates with a Bachelor's or Associate's degree may be considered with less hands-on experience
  • Candidates with a High School diploma only must have a minimum of 2 years of hands-on R&D testing experience in a medical device, pharmaceutical, or similar lab environment
  • Experience with mechanical testing; dental or orthodontic experience is a plus
  • Proficient with Instron testers and Blue Hill software
  • Strong documentation skills and attention to detail
  • Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively in a lab setting
