Quality Technician (Weld Destruct)
Location: Telford, TN
Shift: 1st (7am-3:30pm)
Pay: $18/hr
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Quality Technician (Weld Destruct) is responsible for conducting testing and auditing adherence to procedures during the manufacturing processes to ensure that products comply with quality standards and meet customers' specifications prior to delivering to the customer.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Initiate documentation to record testing and auditing results, scrap paperwork and process as directed
- Perform inspections involving physical teardown of parts and the measurement of spot-welds per procedures.
- Perform visual confirmation of GMAW and Laser welds for physical test results.
- Perform inspections of spot-welds using ultrasonic non-destructive methods.
- Provide feedback on all acceptable finished goods and to aid the quarantine all problematic finished goods for QA analysis.
- Scrap the remaining pieces of part after jobs are completed.
- Notify Management immediately when any quality issue or test result falls outside of documented requirements.
- Address day to day quality issues through resolution
- Special projects as assigned, working independently and/or within a team
- Provides other assistance to Quality & Plant Management as requested
- Other duties as assigned
- Solid understanding of testing equipment.
- Minimum of 2 years of inspection and/or production experience, physical weld teardown preferred.
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to use hammers and chisels, including air powered hammers, to tear apart resistance spot, GMAW and laser welded components.
- Ability to use standard measuring devices such as calipers, micrometers and scales.
- Ability to understand and properly use standardized data sheets to record the results of the weld measurements.
- Solid technology skills with ability to utilize and learn various types of technology, a quick learner with a can-do attitude
- Strong knowledge of a manufacturing business
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
Education and Experience:
- At a minimum, High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. An Associate's degree in a technical discipline is preferred.
- 1 to 3 experience in a manufacturing environment.
