Quality & Reliability Engineer (Project-Based Assignment)

Are you a seasoned Quality & Reliability Engineer with a passion for driving excellence and innovation? Join our team and play a pivotal role in our connectivity and sensor solutions manufacturing operations. This is a special project assignment, expected to last between 3 to 6 months, with the potential for extension.

Location: Hauppauge, NY (Local candidates only)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Champion scrap reduction initiatives and foster a “Zero Defect” mentality using Lean (TEOA), Six Sigma, Poka-Yoke, Measurement System Analysis, APQP, SPC, and PFMEA.
  • Actively participate in and advocate for Lean methodology (TEOA), collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify gaps, opportunities, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Report key quality KPIs at required intervals, ensuring transparency and accountability.
  • Conduct mandatory and developed on-site quality training sessions.
  • Support Incoming Quality (IQE) and Supplier Development (SDE) teams in coordinating the inspection and action of non-conforming products within the value stream.
What We're Looking For:
  • Education: Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or Chemical Engineering preferred, with a minimum of 5 years of related experience.
  • Certification: Green Belt or Black Belt in Six Sigma is a must.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in the use of statistical software tools (e.g., Minitab) and systematic problem-solving methodologies (8D, DMAIC, 5Y).
  • Experience: Previous experience in quality or engineering roles within aerospace, automotive, industrial, or commercial sectors. MIL-SPEC experience is a plus.
  • Skills: Strong collaboration skills with the ability to work independently, excellent problem-solving capabilities, and proficiency in MS Office.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in a manufacturing plant environment in a quality or engineering role.
  • Strong knowledge of quality planning and implementation tools (Histogram, Pareto, MSA, PFMEA).
  • Experience with ISO9001, AS9100, or IATF16949 compliance and quality system audits.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks, adapt to changing priorities, and accomplish goals in a timely manner.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
