Quality Inspector
Location: San Jose, CA
Pay Rate: $28 - $35/hour
Job Type: Contract-to-Hire (Potential for conversion after 6 months)
Shift: Day Shift - 6AM - 2:30PM

About the Role:
Kelly Engineering is seeking a meticulous and detail-oriented Quality Inspector to join our client's high-technology manufacturing team in San Jose, CA. This is a contract-to-hire opportunity with the potential for permanent placement after 6 months. The Quality Inspector will perform essential inspection tasks, including receiving, in-process, and final inspections, ensuring that all products meet rigorous customer quality standards. You'll play a key role in verifying specifications, identifying and reporting discrepancies, and collaborating closely with production, engineering, and program management teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct first article/piece inspections at the start of production runs to ensure requirements are met and discrepancies are reported.
  • Perform roving sample inspections and quality audits during production to ensure continuous delivery of acceptable products.
  • Complete 100% final inspections to verify materials and processes meet quality standards before shipping to customers.
  • Perform mechanical and visual inspections of incoming materials and maintain quality records for vendor evaluation and internal processes.
  • Interpret technical documentation, including blueprints, Bills of Material (BOM), datasheets, and specifications.
  • Cross-train in other areas and assist with additional duties as required.

Must-Haves:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 3+ year of quality inspection experience in high-technology manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with IPC 600, IPC 610, and J-Std-001 standards and quality system processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, BOMs, datasheets, and technical documents.
  • Experience using small hand tools and working under a microscope for inspection.
  • Physical ability to lift, stand, climb, and bend in a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of ISO9001, AS9100, or ISO13485 processes is preferred.
