Position: Contract Chemist (Temporary)

Location: Irvine, CA

Department: Quality Control (QC)

Duration: 3-month temporary assignment with the potential for extension to a temp-to-hire position.

Pay Rate: $36 per hour

Overview:
We are seeking a temporary Contract Chemist to join the Pharmaceutical  QC Department at our client's Irvine, CA location for a 3-month assignment to cover a leave of absence. This role involves critical responsibilities in method validation, analytical testing, and laboratory operations.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct method validation, verification, transfer, and analytical testing for clinical submission materials, including raw materials and finished products.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot analytical instrumentation.
  • Document laboratory investigations as needed.
  • Peer review data generated by fellow chemists and technicians.
  • Develop, validate, and troubleshoot analytical methods.
  • Conduct method transfers from other facilities and departments.
  • Author standard operating procedures and analytical methods.
  • Perform and/or assist with equipment calibrations and qualifications.
  • Assist laboratory management with training laboratory employees.
  • Aid in preparation for internal, customer, and agency audits.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in chemistry or a related discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in a chemistry laboratory, with experience in analytical instrumentation (HPLC, GC, CE, ICP, FTIR, dissolution apparatus).
  • 2+ years of experience in a GLP or GMP environment is preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow standard operating procedures.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and effectively perform concurrent tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Commitment to safety and quality within a laboratory setting.
