Kelly is hiring a QA Lab Technician for one of our food manufacturing clients in Calhoun, GA.

Function: Quality
Schedule: 3rd shift 10pm - 630am shift Mon. – Fri. 8hrs (Possible Sat)
Pay: $20.50/hr
Report to: Quality Supervisor

Primary Purpose - Laboratory Technicians work with our Production, Sanitation, Maintenance and Warehouse teams in order to provide testing of samples, data integrity, and the overall integrity of our quality and safety for all Kerry ingredients for our customers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Perform timely physical & analytical sampling and testing on finished goods using a variety of standard test methodology.
  2. Responsible for HACCP program verifications and documentation.
  3. Perform laboratory equipment calibrations, record, and communicate results.
  4. Perform chemical titrations on in-house sanitation chemistry.
  5. Perform aseptic microbiological sampling of products and environment.
  6. Communicate any finished good, raw material, HACCP, GMP, or quality non-conformances or deviations in a timely fashion with production and quality management, put any non-conform product on Hold.
  7. Comply with, follow, and help implement all plant GMPs, policies, SSOPs and SOPs.
  8. Communication and inter-department / intra-department teamwork.
  9. Discriminating sensory evaluation, critical thinking, and problem resolution.
  10. Report all Accidents and Near-Misses immediately.
  11. Work with our systems to enter all of our data and run reports.
  12. Line pre-operation inspection, cleaning verification, documentation, release and communication of the results.
  13. Train employees on quality subjects and procedures.
  14. Perform laboratory housekeeping and upkeep.
  15. Work assigned schedule and cover absences, come to work on time fully prepared.
  16. Other duties and projects as assigned.

Minimum Requirements
Experience:
  1. Basic computer skills, with the ability to work in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook, and Microsoft Word. Kerry will train on our specific systems including SAP.
  2. Strong organizational skills & excellent communication skills are essential.
  3. Ability to read, write and communicate in English at a level to facilitate the understanding of the terminlolgy of the job.
  4. Ability to comprehend and follow written and/or verbal procedures or instructions.
  5. Ability to organize and plan ahead to maximize job efficiency and work safely.
  6. Ability to drive for excellence in all areas; focus on effective internal and external customer-supplier relationships.
  7. Ability to work in a team, with other departments, and with management.
  8. Ability to work all scheduled shifts and report to work station on time, fully prepared. Ability to work overtime to cover absences.

Education:
  • High School Diploma or GED

Preferred Skills & Qualifications
  1. Previous work experience within a laboratory environment.
  2. Flavor/ Fragrance or food lab experience also preferred.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to kneel, bend, squat, stoop, carry, reach, stand, grip, push, pull, arm extensions and perform elevated work.
  • Ability to stand and walk for up to 12 hours at a time while wearing proper PPE (safety toe, slip resistant, full foot coverage shoes; hairnets / beardnets; issued uniforms; hearing protection; and eye protection as required by plant).
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with assistance, not on daily or weekly bases. Daily lifting of samples is 10 pounds or less.
  • Ability to work in hot, cold or wet environments.
