Purchase Order (P.O.) Specialist:
The Purchase Order (P.O.) Specialist supports the Plaquemine Maintenance Function team by providing effective P.O. management through the Requisition Tool, CPAY admin tool, and CATSMM Tool. The successful candidate will deliver essential P.O. management services for the Maintenance Function across the site.
This role is responsible for developing and managing composite P.O.s, analyzing and forecasting costs throughout their lifecycle, and taking proactive action to resolve discrepancies and issues. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who can work independently with minimal supervision.
Responsibilities

  • Analyze P.O. data and identify discrepancies; determine and implement corrective actions.
  • Contribute to the development of management plans and control processes related to P.O. creation, definition estimates, tracking, and forecasting.
  • Collaborate with Contract Admins to develop blanket P.O.s and validate inventory, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Lead meetings and present P.O. data and trends to leadership.
  • Troubleshoot P.O. issues within Dow and with external contractors/vendors.
  • Track P.O.s to ensure adequate funding; initiate new P.O.s as needed to prevent payment delays.
  • Work with Contract Admins, vendors, and Purchasing to validate remaining costs and manage increases or new P.O. creation based on volume.
  • Ensure CTE Team understands and helps troubleshoot billing errors.
  • Clear all P.O. errors.
  • Acquire initial and ongoing job training from Freeport SAP SMEs.
  • Maintain accuracy in CATSMM to avoid billing delays.
  • Provide training and guidance to Contract Admins on the Requisition Tool.
  • Review and correct the Site SES Error CATSM report.
  • Initiate P.O. increases in collaboration with Contract Admins and Purchasing.
  • Analyze and resolve pending payments on aging reports as needed.
  Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED (minimum).
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience with billing, invoicing, or purchase orders.
  • Proficiency in SAP, Business Warehouse, Excel, Word, Outlook, Microsoft Access, and Purchasing systems.
  • Ability to independently resolve issues using electronic data and visual observations.
  • Strong leadership skills with an ability to gather and utilize essential information for task completion.
  • Experience with billing and P.O. practices is a plus (or can be learned on the job).
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Willingness to follow established processes and procedures.
  • Ability to interact closely with all roles for both long-term and immediate problem resolution.
  • Prior experience in a role involving Purchasing, SES and CATS billing, P.O.s, and related tools is recommended.
