JOB TITLE: Project Engineer
LOCATION: Whippany, NJ
DURATION: 3+ Months (Temporary / Contract)
PAY RATE: $60 - $65 per hour W2
HOURS: 7:30AM - 4:30PM
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Background in Engineering (Chemical/Mechanical) required.
Minimum 10 years of experience in project engineer - mechanical equipment installation.
Shift: 7:30AM - 4:30PM
Steel toed shoes required.
As a member of a cross functional team, you lead R&D activities required to complete process design and process deployment for innovation, growth, and cost optimization projects across multiple geographies with an emphasis on delivering the desired consumer experience.
How you will contribute
In this role you will be working independently, lead technical work across multiple projects aligned with R&D, effectively communicating status and risks. You will also lead activities designed to generate appropriate process information for pilot plant scale up and factory trials in accordance with good manufacturing practice and HACCP requirements. You will be involved with/lead process design and specifications, process scale-up and commissioning and will ensure the effective use of resources, including the use of external agencies. This position requires you to manage stakeholders and to influence decisions based on data analysis and interpretation of results; create and maintain accurate consumer centric process specifications; leverage connections to internal and external technical communities, and; create intellectual property that gives Mondel?z International a competitive advantage.

What you need to know about this position:
We are looking for an experienced and motivated Project Engineer to join our team and play a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of our Global Biscuit and Baked Snacks Pilot Plant. This includes leading infrastructure/mechanical/commissioning projects, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and troubleshooting equipment issues. You will be working with technologies such as: Mixers, Industrial Linear Ovens, Rotary Sandwiching Machines, Cooling Tunnels, Pressure Cookers, Crème Kitchens, etc.
Responsibilities:
• Operations
• Lead Preventive Maintenance program, scheduling, and planning. Identify and manage inventory of spare parts to unforeseen breakdowns.
• Train team on capabilities of how to operate equipment implemented.
• Lead commissioning and management of change (MOC) for equipment ensuring equipment follows all Safety, Sanitation, Electrical and Operation requirements stated in the MOC form.
• Support R&D trials troubleshooting to help achieve our team's achieve product specs, and project goals.
• Capital Projects
o Follow all Innovation Initiative Management principles (internal PM methodology)
o Infrastructure Capital projects
§ Lead project management of activities coordinating contractors and local teams to achieve tasks and milestones through weekly and daily (DMS) meetings.
§ Develop/manage timelines (e.g., Microsoft Project) and use risk assessment tools (TRL, FMEA) to share with leadership and project team progress, gaps, and next steps through comprehensive one pagers.
o Process Equipment Capital projects
§ Lead and support FAT and SAT checklists to ensure evidence for equipment warranty and own equipment supplier relation to ensure goals are achieved within budget, scope and time.
• Technical lead
• Provide technical support to maintenance team leading troubleshooting
• Support root cause analysis with process data
• Supervise mechanical and electrical work performed by contractors and electricians
• Coordinate with other departments to resolve equipment and infrastructure issues
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, generate equipment performance reports, and provide insights for improvement
Education / Certifications:
Bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechanical, Chemical are preferred), Engineering related field.
Job specific requirements:
• 5+ years of manufacturing, R&D, operations related role.
• Proficiency in working with
• AutoCad and/or SolidWorks
• Microsoft Office – Excel, Word, Power Point, Project
• Open to learning budget software management tools: SAP, Coupa, Tungsten
• Proficient troubleshooting skills
• Basic understanding and/or open to learn about motors, VFD's, electrical panels, etc.
• Ability to read and understand schematics.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and function effectively in a highly demanding environment.
• Ability to interact effectively with outside vendors, production operators, team leads, and the maintenance trades.
