Permit Writer
Operates the site pipeline network and safe work permitting, in pipeline corridors, in accordance with Operate Plant, Global Maintenance and other global work processes. Requires established basic technical skills to perform a range of routine work activities using existing processes and methods.
Responsibilities:
Monitors and protects Dow's pipelines during excavation activities.
Interfaces with the private landowners, public officials and vendor plant contacts.
Assists with calibration of station instrumentation.
Handles and processes Lock-out Tag-out and Safe Work Permit activities.
Handles housekeeping within assigned area.
Responds to 811 one-calls.
Acts as a technical process subject matter resource in the assigned operational area.
Performs or assists in root cause or failure analysis. Ensures thorough and timely pre-investigations occur.
Creates, reviews, modifies and approves operational procedures to ensure sound operating discipline.
Partners closely with the production staff to resolve problems, drive continuous improvement, and ensure the facility goals are achieved.
Understands life critical standards.
Duties:
• Permitting daily and project work including excavations, construction, maintenance, and any other activities within Site Pipeline area of control.
• Ensure all EH&S rules / policies and procedures are followed by the contractor performing work activities
• Actively participate in the Safety Observation / Intervention programs and conduct Safety Audits
• Lead daily tailgate meetings
• Ensure contractor required safety documentation is in place prior to permitting
• Response to site ES&S as needed
• Ensure good housekeeping on job site.
• Participates in BBP and other safety required training and programs
Serve as Damage Prevention Representative on the job site to protect Dow assets.
• This person must overcome obstacles (culture, past practice, unwritten rules) to achieve results.
• Required to work effectively with many different groups in achieving work results.
• Accomplish results primarily through influence by communicating and motivating others to understand and complete work as outlined.
• Must support change and help others to understand and implement changes in current processes.
• Identify individual capabilities and use it to improve productivity.
• Must be able to work within a team environment to identify and resolve issues as well as complete work assignments.

• Proficient in computer skills and Microsoft applications
• Strong interpersonal skills, facilitative, and organizational competencies
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Excavation Competent Person certification
• Strong initiative
Clean driving record
Experience:
Previous Permit writing and Dow experience is preferred but not required.
Short-Cycle Tertiary Degree (i.e. Associate's Degree) plus manufacturing or other related experience preferred. In lieu of degree, equivalent years of experience required.
