Payroll Supervisor
Position Type: Temp-to-Hire (TTH)
Compensation: $85,000 - $90,000 annually, plus a 5% bonus
Location: Taunton, MA
Hours: Hybrid schedule – 3 days per week in our Taunton office, 2 days remote, M-F 8am to 5pm.

Overview:
Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and hands-on Payroll Supervisor to lead our payroll team and ensure the accurate and timely processing of payroll for approximately 1,700 employees across New England. This role involves managing payroll complexities including weekly and bi-weekly schedules, exempt and non-exempt employees, union and non-union arrangements, seasonal/temporary staff, and commission/incentive-based pay plans. The ideal candidate will have experience working with similarly complex payroll operations and possess strong organizational and leadership skills.

Key Responsibilities:
Supervise and manage the daily activities of the payroll team, ensuring accurate and timely processing of weekly and bi-weekly payrolls.
Actively participate in payroll processing, including handling high-priority issues and entering payroll transactions such as timesheets, vacation requests, direct deposits, and tax changes.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations.
Address and resolve payroll discrepancies and employee concerns promptly.
Conduct reconciliations and detailed audits to ensure the integrity and accuracy of payroll data.
Review and verify payroll data, including wage calculations, tax deductions, and benefits contributions.
Analyze and implement collective bargaining agreements and multiple pay structures from a payroll perspective.
Oversee quarter- and year-end payroll processes, ensuring smooth operations.
Maintain and update payroll policies and procedures to ensure consistency and compliance.
Train and mentor payroll team members to enhance skills, efficiency, and effectiveness.
Collaborate with HR, Finance, and other departments to ensure seamless payroll operations.
Prepare and provide reports on payroll activities and metrics for management review.
Manage and assist with special projects, including system enhancements and payroll upgrades.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Proven experience in payroll processing and team supervision.
Extensive knowledge of payroll processes, tax compliance, and unemployment laws.
Proficiency in payroll systems and software (e.g., Paylocity, Paychex).
Strong problem-solving skills and keen attention to detail.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Advanced computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Excel and payroll/time labor systems.
Strong organizational and leadership skills with the ability to motivate and drive results.

Education, Experience, and Certifications:
Associate degree or higher preferred (extensive payroll experience will be considered).
Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience.
Minimum of 4 years of payroll experience.
Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification preferred.
Experience with Paylocity payroll software is a significant advantage.
Background in accounting, payroll budget development, and management is highly desirable.
