Payroll Analyst
Location: Remote (Must live in the West Coast ONLY)
Assignment Length: 3-Month Contract
Pay Rate: $40 – $50 per hour (W2)
Schedule: 7:30am/8:00am Mon-Fri | Must work Pacific Time hours About the Role
We're seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Payroll Analyst for a 3-month remote contract supporting our North American payroll operations. You will play a critical role in processing multi-state and Canadian payrolls, ensuring compliance, and supporting the transition from UKG (Ultimate Software) to ADP Lyric.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced payroll professional who thrives in fast-paced environments and enjoys collaborating across HR, finance, and operations teams. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the bi-weekly payroll processing for 1,600+ employees across the U.S. and Canada.
  • Ensure accuracy and compliance by auditing payroll data and resolving discrepancies before submission.
  • Support the transition from UKG to ADP Lyric, including testing, system validation, and process improvements.
  • Process off-cycle payrolls, including terminations and adjustments, in compliance with federal, state, and provincial regulations.
  • Handle quarter-end and year-end tax filings and coordinate W-2, W-2c, T4, RL1, and T2200 reporting.
  • Partner with HR Business Partners and managers to ensure proper timecard and PTO processing.
  • Research and resolve complex payroll issues and ensure compliance with U.S. and Canadian labor and tax laws.
  • Collaborate with third-party vendors to process garnishments, unemployment claims, and tax notices.
Qualifications
Required:
  • 4+ years of payroll experience with a strong background in multi-state payroll.
  • Hands-on experience with Canadian payroll regulations and reporting requirements.
  • Proficiency in UKG (Ultimate Software) or ADP Lyric payroll systems.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. federal, state, and local tax compliance.
  • Advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, IF/THEN formulas).
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and organizational skills.
Preferred:
  • Experience with union payroll processing.
  • FPC or CPP certification.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, HR, or related field.
