At Kelly®, we are seeking a Packing Machine Operator to work in a premier manufacturing company, in Ringwood, IL.  We are looking for an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Packing Machine Operator to assist with our packaging processes and ensure the safe and efficient handling of materials.
Position: Packing Machine Operator – Day Utility Packager
Shift: 12-hour day shifts, 7 AM to 7 PM (Rotating 3-2-2 Schedule)
Pay Rate: $24 per hour
Primary Responsibilities:

  • Drum, repackage, and pail various materials (raw materials, intermediates, or finished goods) into suitable packaging.
  • Unload tank trucks and manage totes, 55-gallon drums, 5-gallon pails, and assorted sizes of bottles and cans.
  • Conduct labeling tasks and clean parts using part washing tanks.
  • Repackage materials both manually and with the use of a pailing machine.
  • Handle the drumming out of solvents using fresh air respirators when required.
  • Maintain general cleanliness and participate in LEAN projects and painting activities.
  • Accurately record data related to packaging operations.
  • Operate hand trucks and forklifts to facilitate the movement of raw materials and finished products.
  • Ensure all work is performed safely and without injury, while actively contributing to enhancing safety performance and housekeeping standards in the department and plant.
  • Engage in daily meetings and participate in all training sessions.
  • Adhere to operating procedures or safe work permits, attend Ringwood safety meetings, and take part in safety paired assessment programs.
  • Assist with cycle count activities and carry out other duties as assigned by management.

  • Understand and comply with all plant safety and security regulations.
  • Identify and avoid hazards to ensure safety for oneself, coworkers, the general public, and the environment.
  • Use judgment to prevent product losses and safeguard company equipment.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding production processes and company information.
  • Perform basic math calculations and interpret process instructions and material safety data sheets.
  • Contribute to improving the safety performance of colleagues through constructive feedback.
Education/Certification/Experience Requirements:
  • Must be at least 18 years old and possess a valid driver's license.
  • High school diploma, equivalent, or satisfactory work history is required.
  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and verbal communication in English.
  • Basic math skills for performing various calculations.
  • Forklift operation training will be provided.
  • Must be capable of wearing a full-face respirator.
Physical Requirements:
  • With mechanical assistance, manually move 50-pound drums and lift a nominal weight of 55 lbs.
  • Wear various types of respirators, ensuring no facial hair interferes with the sealing surface.
  • Climb ladders and stairs and operate process equipment and hand tools.
  • Stand for up to 90% of the working day, with frequent walking, stopping, and bending.
  • Tolerate varying hot or cold working conditions.
  • No known sensitivity or history of skin or respiratory allergies to workplace dust, dirt, or chemicals.
  • Wear necessary protective clothing and equipment.
  • Operate forklifts (both manual and sit-down riders).
