What's a typical day as a Packaging Lab Manager? You'll be:
• Managing at the East Hanover (EH) Lab and Whippany Pilot Plant (WPP), ensuring smooth operations and effective communication with the Packaging Development Team.
• Performing requested packaging testing, sharing data with requestors, and maintaining records of test results using GLIMS.
• Supporting or executing trials at the Whippany Pilot Plant while acting as the single point of contact for WPP staff.
• Assigned as Packaging Safety Steward for EH Lab and WPP
• Conducting Safety Training for new employees as needed
• Planning & submitting proposal for the following year's budget during June/July timeframe
• Tracking expenses on blanket POs and ensuring phasing/forecast is accurate
• Acting as a liaison between Packaging Developers and Pilot Plant staff to plan trials, coordinate activities, material arrival and ensure proper forms/requirements are in place
• Working with WPP to create proper forms and documentation to comply with HSE & Food Safety standards, SOP, risk assessment, ability to recommission equipment and create PM plan
• Coordinating with vendors to complete yearly calibration tests in the East Hanover lab.
This job might be an outstanding fit if you:
• Have a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in managing a Packaging Lab, preferably in the food industry.
• Possess strong technical skills and the ability to learn quickly, executing tasks independently.
• Demonstrate effective communication skills and the ability to be a strong team player, providing guidance to Junior Engineers.
