Are you detail-oriented and safety-driven? Join our team as an Oil Car Unloading Technician! In this essential role, you'll be a critical part of our rail operations, ensuring safe, efficient, and environmentally conscious oil transfer. We're looking for individuals who thrive in hands-on environments and are committed to maintaining the highest standards of safety and operational excellence. Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate Equipment: Follow established procedures for oil car unloading; operate equipment accurately and efficiently.
  • Railcar Positioning: Ensure the correct placement and security of each rail car at the loading rack.
  • Product Validation: Confirm that the product in each rail car is suitable for transfer into specified containers.
  • Inspection: Conduct visual inspections for mechanical stability and defects before transfer.
  • Connection & Transfer: Connect and disconnect loading arms/hoses; manage transfers using gauges and strapping tables.
  • Leak Detection & Documentation: Inspect equipment for leaks and complete required paperwork before releasing the rail car.
  • Repair: Safely address and repair oil leaks as needed.
  • Closure: Properly secure oil cars for shipping.
  • Lockout/Tagout: Locate lock boxes and lock out tracks efficiently.
  • Steam & Condensate Lines: Safely connect/disconnect steam and condensate lines for oil heating.
  • Cleanliness & Safety: Maintain a clean, safe workspace; respond promptly to spills and messes.
  • Safety Leadership: Model and promote safe practices during Carbon Black Oil (CBO) handling and within rail/transport environments.
  • PPE Compliance: Wear all required protective gear, including respirators and fresh air equipment, to ensure personal safety.
  • Environmental Commitment: Maintain a fundamental understanding of environmental requirements and prevention tactics.
  • Communication: Report issues, problems, or concerns promptly to supervisor.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other tasks as assigned by supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Prior experience in rail operations or oil transfer industries is an asset.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Capable of wearing protective clothing and equipment for extended periods.
  • Willingness to work in physically demanding environments.
