Microbiology Research Associate
Fort Washington, PA
Full-Time
1st Shift
Compensation: $23-27/hr


Kelly Outsourcing & Consulting Group (KellyOCG), a managed solution provider and business unit of Kelly Services, Inc., is currently seeking a Microbiology Research Associate for a long-term engagement at one of our Global clients in Fort Washington PA.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Performing support to the R&D Pilot Plant. This includes (but is not limited to):

  • All equipment used during testing/sampling will be treated with proper care and be cleaned after use.
  • Analyst will not use equipment that they are not trained on (with accompanying proper documentation of training).
  • All sampling and testing will be in accordance with company and regulatory specifications.
    • water sampling    
    • sampling of new formulations and raw materials
    • environmental monitoring sampling (air, surfaces, equipment) 
  • Packing and sending out samples for testing       
  • Coordination of shipping and testing with external vendors       
  • Review of microbiology results. Trending of results.       
  • QC checks and calibrations on media, test kits, lab equipment   
  • Authoring and/or review of technical documents, lab notebooks, protocols, and reports
  • Other projects relating to efficiency improvements, innovation support and new product development, as required.  
  • Review technical documentation and results to ensure alignment with specifications.
  • Follow company policies and procedures for any Test Incident Reports and / or non-conformances.   
  • Ensure specifications conform to current company standards.
  • Coordinate any recleaning, resampling, retesting etc as may be required with the R&D Pilot Plant and R&D Microbiology.       
  • Use good scientific judgement and rigor.  
  • Look for opportunities to do the following, without compromising Quality requirements:
    • Propose any ideas to company for consideration.
    • improve efficiency and accuracy.
    • remove non-value-added work    
    • reduce cost or time            
    • support additional new innovation          
  • Data collection / metrics as required. 
  • Independent work / time management.
  • Management of multiple tasks at once. 
  • Ability to learn and use a variety of software systems.    

REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor of Science (preferably in Microbiology or other biological science such as Plant Science, Food Science or Biology with lab work in Microbiology) AND at least 2 years of experience working in Microbiology.
