Position Title: Mechanical Engineer

Reports To: Mechanical Engineering Manager
Location: New Hudson, MI
Salary: 125K depending on experience 
Status: Full-time / Must work W/O Sponsorship 

Position Summary

The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for analyzing customer requirements and developing competitive, high-quality system and station concepts. This role utilizes application engineering principles and calculations to ensure design integrity, supports project execution through machine build and start-up, and interfaces with both customers and internal departments. The Mechanical Engineer will also serve as Lead Engineer on projects when required.

Key Responsibilities Project & Design Execution
  • Analyze customer requirements and specifications including terms and conditions, corporate standards, drawings, and quotation needs.

  • Develop conceptual solutions including process flow strategies, handling methods, station concepts, timing charts, and layouts.

  • Ensure high-quality and cost-effective designs are delivered on time and within project budgets.

  • Oversee the complete design and release process, ensuring conformance with specifications.

  • Supervise machine build, debug, installation, start-up, and buyoff phases.

Technical Communication & Documentation
  • Create technical proposals, system descriptions, and specification responses.

  • Develop sketches, motion sheets, and CAD layouts to support concept presentations.

  • Prepare PowerPoint presentations for customer meetings and internal reviews.

  • Maintain accurate and organized project documentation throughout the lifecycle.

  • Deliver all as-built drawings, manuals, and project documentation post-completion.

Customer & Vendor Interaction
  • Attend customer line-up meetings and site visits to gather detailed requirements.

  • Support sales with technical input and presentation strategies.

  • Obtain and review vendor quotations and technical specifications.

  • Collaborate with suppliers and subcontractors to align on project needs.

Project Leadership & Support
  • Serve as the Lead Mechanical Engineer as needed.

  • Interface with Controls, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Sales, and Service teams to ensure clear communication and effective task execution.

  • Identify and resolve project issues in a timely and collaborative manner.

  • Manage change orders, project meetings, and reporting for both customer and internal stakeholders.

Continuous Improvement
  • Participate in internal project reviews and provide feedback for process improvements.

  • Identify lessons learned and contribute to best practices for future projects.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field or Experience.
