We are looking for a Mechanic to work on fleet vehicles and other mechanical equipment at an electric utility company in Cornelius, NC. **MUST have a Class A CDL to be considered for this role**

Pay: 27-36/HR Depending on experience 
Schedule: Mon-Fri 730AM-330PM 
Location: Cornelius, NC (MUST be able to commute to and train in Statesville location for up to 6 months)
Duration: Permanent position with benefits and PTO

What's a typical day as a Mechanic? You'll be:
• Providing the skills needed for the performance of the position
• Changing engine oil, lubrication, oil filters, fuel filters, air filters, batteries, brake repairs, light issues, tire maintenance, fan belts, radiator hoses, exhaust issues, etc.
• Assisting in making recommendations to improve the Cooperative's fleet operations
• Maintaining the maintenance programs for vehicle maintenance and repairs
• Observing all work rules, safety rules, regulations, policies, and procedures
• Encouraging a high degree of understanding and appreciation of the cooperative way of doing business among employees, members, and the public
• Promoting an effective member and public relations program through community participation and involvement
• Providing the necessary skills to maintain and repair cars, trucks, trailers, and off-road equipment in a safe, efficient, quality-minded, and member-focused manner
• Performing operational tests on vehicles and equipment to quality check all repairs
• Providing monthly reports for tracking operational and maintenance costs
• Performing work as required with specialized equipment such as A/C Refrigerant - Recovery-Reclaim Units, grinders, torches, welding/cutting, and computerized engine analyzers, hydraulic systems, etc.
• Coordinating emergency services for the Cooperative vehicles and equipment
• Maintaining the service garages and assigned areas in a neat, clean, and safe manner free from hazards
• Working with the Fleet Mechanic Supervisor to achieve agreed-upon results
• Conducting routine checks of fuel pumps, fire extinguishers, and other Safety Equipment
• Completing all work safely and in accordance with DOT, FMCSA, ANSI, Federal, State, and local ordinances

This job might be an outstanding fit if you:
• Have a high school diploma or equivalent and a technical vocational or trade school diploma or degree in automotive truck and/or heavy equipment service repair and maintenance
• Have at least 5 years of experience as a Heavy-Duty Truck mechanic
• Have experience in wire and stick welding along with cutting and brazing
• Have ASE Auto Maintenance/Light Repairs (G1 Certificate) and the ability to acquire ASE Medium Heavy Truck Certifications (Diesel Engines T2, Drive Train T3, Brakes T4, and Suspension & Steering T5). Training on Aerial Lifts and Derricks
• Have knowledge of all phases of service and maintenance to perform repairs on various types of equipment
• Have an understanding of the electrical and mechanical workings of hydraulics
• Have experience in powertrain, suspension, electrical systems, hydraulic systems, and ANSI Guidelines as related to aerial lifts and digger derricks
• Are skilled in DOT inspections and familiar with FMCSA Guidelines
• Have a valid N.C. Class A CDL with air brake endorsement
• Have a complete set of standard tools and metric tools in accordance with the fleet department tool list
• Have experience in the operation of heavy equipment and hydraulic systems (highly desirable)
