- Now Hiring: Receiving Clerk / Material Handler (1st Shift)
Location: Newington, CT
Shift: Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
Pay Rate: $19.00/hour Position SummaryThe Material Handler is primarily responsible for supporting material flow throughout the Newington warehouse and between buildings. This role will flex between assisting the Receiving department—such as unloading trucks and performing initial quality checks—and handling material movement, part pulling, and inventory tasks to support production. The Material Handler ensures accurate, efficient, and organized handling of all materials while maintaining high standards of safety and workplace organization.
Key ResponsibilitiesThe following statements describe the general nature and level of work performed. They are not an exhaustive list of all duties. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.
Material Handling & Receiving -
Unload campus trucks and delivery vehicles in a safe, accurate, and timely manner.

Support all Receiving functions, including initial quality checks and verifying material counts.

Prepare building labels and review accompanying paperwork as required.

Process goods receipts for inbound shipments in SAP.

Manage material flow from receiving to point of use using pallet jacks, forklifts, transport carts, and other equipment.
- Inventory & Stock Management

Pull parts from storage and deliver to assembly areas.

Record stock transactions in SAP via PC or barcode scanners, including receiving, issuing, and adjusting inventory.

Count all parts entering or leaving stock to maintain inventory accuracy.

Unpack shipments and stock materials on shelves or designated storage areas.

Fill and deliver transport carts to designated work centers safely and efficiently.
- Workplace Organization & Safety

Maintain 5S standards and workplace organization in all storage and material handling areas.

Work independently with minimal supervision, identifying and resolving issues proactively.

Follow all safety guidelines and contribute to a clean, organized, and hazard-free environment.
- Qualifications Experience & Skills
-
Prior experience with computerized shipping and inventory systems preferred.

SAP experience is a plus.

Strong attention to detail and effective communication skills.

Ability to stay organized and accurate with paperwork and documentation.

Must be able to stand, walk, lift, and bend for extended periods on concrete floors.

Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs without assistance.

Forklift operation experience required.
