Description

Employment: Contract – 3 months  

Shift: Monday to Thursday, 5:00AM to 3:00PM 

Pay Rate: $21.02/hr 

Summary of responsibilities:  
 

The Material Handler is responsible for safely loading, receiving, staging, and storing raw materials and finished goods using a forklift. This role ensures accurate documentation, inventory control, and clear communication with internal teams and drivers. The Material Handler helps maintain a clean, safe, and organized facility and may provide backup support to the Warehouse Supervisor when needed. 

 

Responsibilities:  

  • Perform pre-operational, operational, and post-operational forklift inspections 

  • Operate forklifts safely to load, unload, transport, and stack materials and finished goods 

  • Stage, label, and verify materials according to load sheets and pallet tags 

  • Maintain organized storage areas to support efficient inventory control and prevent hazards 

  • Coordinate with drivers to ensure safe traffic flow at loading docks 

  • Monitor surroundings for employees, equipment, and hazards while operating equipment 

  • Report forklift or equipment issues to maintenance or supervisors promptly 

  • Verify incoming materials for quality and accuracy and communicate discrepancies 

  • Conduct inventory counts and enter data accurately into inventory systems 

  • Print labels, reserve orders, and post completed orders in software systems 

  • Support production line material movement as needed 

  • Label, seal, and transport hazardous and non-hazardous waste to designated areas 

  • Maintain clean, clutter-free work areas and follow all safety policies 

  • Assist with training and provide backup coverage as assigned 

Must-haves:  

  • Minimum 2+ years of material handling experience 

  • Experience operating forklifts safely in an industrial or warehouse environment 

  • Ability to pass forklift inspections and follow safety policies 

  • Strong attention to detail and accurate documentation skills 

  • Ability to communicate effectively with team members and drivers 

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team 

  • Ability to wear required PPE, including steel-toed boots (contractor provided) 

  • Ability to perform physical tasks associated with material handling 

Nice-to-Haves: 

  • High school diploma or GED 

  • Experience with inventory software or warehouse management systems 

  • Prior experience supporting production lines 

  • Previous training or mentoring experience 

  • Experience handling hazardous or non-hazardous waste
