Description

Kelly Services is seeking a qualified Machine Operator to work at Pratt and Whitney in Asheville, NC.  Ideal candidates have experience working in a manufacturing setting and have experience with tack welding.

This is a 3.5 month contracted position working through December.

Pay: 

  • $25.54 Per hour 
  • Weekly Pay!
  • Contract completion bonus
 

Shift:

  • 2nd shift - Monday thru Thursday - 4:15PM until 2:45AM. 

General Summary:  The role of the machine operator - will be trained and certified to operate a variety of machining operations.  Machines may include water & air flow, tack weld, laser ablation, tape & wax, x-ray, etc.  
 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operator will train on the job to become proficient and certified in performing the operations in a portion of a standard work loop required in coatings, grinding, hole drilling, or finishing of turbine airfoils.
  • Operator will follow work instructions provide to adhere by standard work processes while performing tasks. Employee will be required to  read and interpret machining processes outlined in Work Instructions. 
  • Operator will demonstrate understanding of quality and production.
  • Demonstrate broad knowledge of machine shop practices, methods and techniques. Has knowledge of cutting qualities of metal, machining, fabrication and tooling. Works from drawings and sketches and uses advanced shop mathematics and a variety of precision measuring instruments.
  • Work from drawings and operation sheets and use decimals and fractions and a variety of precision measuring instruments.
  • Frequently utilize measuring devices and assess product acceptance based on blueprint specification(s)
  • Change set ups and document information on check sheets
  • Keep dimensional data on run charts 
  • Maintain acceptable quality levels on routine and/or complex operations.
  • Keep equipment and work area clean 
  • The person in this position will frequently move about the machine line to operate various manufacturing equipment (approximately 90% of the time).  Transport product and/or equipment weighing up to 10 pounds.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Minimum 1 year previous manufacturing experience or education 
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract 
  • Familiarity with plant tools and equipment
  • Familiarity with shop math, reading blue prints, and using measuring devices
  • Familiarity with computer operations and machining systems
  • Ability to conduct physical activities such as bending, reaching, pulling, pushing and standing for long periods of time. 
  • Must be willing to learn
  • 1-2 years as a machine operator within a production plant 
  • Advanced Manufacturing Certification

**  Requires registering with Kelly Services and passing a drug test, background check and education level verification.
