Lab Calibration Technician
Kelly Outsourcing Consulting Group Kelly OCG, a managed solution provider and business unit of Kelly Services, Inc., is currently seeking ana Lab Calibration Technician for a long-term engagement at one of our Global medical device clients in Santa Clara., CA.
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 1st shift
Compensation: $32-40/hr
Summary:
This is a hands-on role within the Preclinical and Clinical Engineering teams and represents an outstanding opportunity to work cross functionally with various groups that utilize the Preclinical Labs. Assistance and support in this space will be essential to the development of the Company's highly innovative digital surgery platform. The Calibration Technician is principally responsible for successful execution and management of all internal and external instrument Calibration/PM work.
Responsibilities:
- Inspect medical equipment for defects, report malfunction and ensure for resolution
- Ensure preventive maintenance and Calibrations on medical equipment are performed on a timely manner
- Check the records for test results and maintenance performed
- Coordinate schedules for servicing devices
- Inspect and ensure the medical equipment are cleaned and documented according to set the frequency
- Troubleshooting medical equipment failures
- Coordinate with customer service to determine pricing, repair lead-time, and repair approvals with external clients
- Maintain calibration database for all internal medical equipment and monitor due dates, perform calibrations, and generate calibration paperwork (certificates and reports)
- Coordinate all calibration with external calibration vendors for medical equipment that cannot be calibrated internally.
- Evaluate calibration vendors based on qualification and expertise and monitor their performance.
- Participate in internal and external audits
- Good understanding of Good Documentation Practices
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree is required
- Experience in a biotech laboratory environment or medical research facility is desirable
- Experience working in medical device or pharmaceutical research is advantageous
- Familiarity with GLP requirements is advantageous
- Attention to detail and good verbal and written communication skills are required
- Familiarity working with Microsoft 365 applications such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint is required
- Comfortable handling and working with cadaveric and animal tissue is essential
- 2+ years of experience as a Calibration Technician.
- Formal training in Metrology, such as the Precision Measurement Equipment Course (PMEL) or TMDE gained through the military is highly desirable and/or preferably in a technical discipline specific to calibration and instrumentation
- Detailed experience with quality management systems (ISO-17025, ISO-9001, MIL-STD-790, etc.) highly desirable
- Experience and / or training in equipment calibration in any of the following: § Electrical instrumentation § Physical Dimensional § RF Calibration
- Capable of lifting (40 pounds)
- Strong competency in record keeping / organization, database maintenance, spreadsheets.
- Ability to maintain excellence and accuracy in a dynamic, fast-paced, multi-disciplinary environment.
- Must work well in a team environment and must demonstrate excellent communication skills in the interaction with internal J&J customers
- Must demonstrate attention to detail and conscientiousness related to the quality of work
- Ability for problem solving
- Self-directed and highly motivated
- Good understanding of basic electrical and optical concepts
