Kelly is seeking a Full-Charge Bookkeeper or Staff Accountant to work with our client, a growing construction company with over 75 years of successful business, on a direct hire basis. This is an excellent opportunity to join a family-owned small business known for its strong employee tenure – it is not unusual to see work anniversaries of 20, 30, or even 40+ years at this company!
The Full-Charge Bookkeeper will:
- Manage all accounting functions, including bookkeeping, AR/AP, general ledger, financial reporting, payroll and business taxes, CPA coordination, and audits
- Oversee banking activities, including deposits, loan tracking, and bank reporting
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts and prepare monthly journal entries and reports
- Process weekly payroll, prevailing wage reports, W-2s, and 1099s
- Administer HR functions as needed
- Maintain business, financial, licensing, and document retention records; ensure timely renewal of required licenses
- Coordinate insurance policies and claims for vehicles, equipment, buildings, and workers' compensation
- Assist with budgeting, annual CPA reports, sales tax filings, collections, and expense report review
- Assess operational accounting needs and recommend solutions
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business Management preferred, or equivalent experience
- 3+ years of experience as a Bookkeeper or Staff Accountant
- Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Office
- Extensive knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
- Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced work environment
- Highly organized and detail oriented
- Able to complete tasks accurately and timely with minimal supervision
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Thrives in a collaborative, team player office environment
- Ability to interface well with staff and external contacts
- Proven ability to maintain confidentiality
- Strong organizational skills
