Job Title: Field Service Technician Roamer
Location: Chicagoland, IL / Davenport, IA (PREFFERRED) -OR- surrounding territories within the midwestern region
Role Summary / Purpose:
As a Field Service Technician Roamer, you will be responsible for providing commissioning, maintenance, and repair services for water and wastewater treatment systems across various client sites in the Chicagoland area. This direct hire position requires 85% travel within the region. The role offers flexibility, as it involves rotating 12-hour shifts (days or nights). The position comes with full benefits, a company car, and a company card.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Commissioning & Maintenance: Safely commission, operate, monitor, repair, and maintain water treatment systems, including media filtration, reverse osmosis (RO), ion exchange (IX), ultrafiltration (UF), and chemical injection systems.
  • Troubleshooting: Perform mechanical, electrical, and controls troubleshooting on equipment such as valves, air compressors, process pumps, blowers, and instrumentation.
  • Analytical Testing: Conduct site-specific analytical testing, including turbidity, hardness, chlorine, pH, CO2, O2, and TOC.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain detailed site documentation, providing customers with technical summaries of work performed.
  • Customer Interaction: Collaborate with customer management and operation teams to ensure contract compliance and address any issues.

  • Frequently required to stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, or hear.
  • Occasionally required to walk, climb, or balance.

  • Specific vision requirements include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment:
  • Moderate noise levels, with possible exposure to loud noise at specific sites.
  • Assignments may involve working in remote areas and could require stays at work camps.
  • Many tasks will be conducted outdoors at water treatment facilities.
  Qualifications / Requirements:
  • Education: High School Diploma/GED or equivalent required. An Associate's in Engineering (STEM) is preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of service/maintenance experience in an industrial environment, with a preference for candidates with water treatment systems experience.
  • Skills:
  • Strong background in electrical systems (120VAC and 480VAC), instrumentation, and low voltage communication.
  • Proficiency in PLC control systems and troubleshooting is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and remotely with project teams.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Travel: Extensive travel within the Chicagoland area is required (85% of the time).   Additional Information:
