Engineering Technician, Hillsboro, OR

 

Kelly Services is currently seeking a Engineering Technician  for one of our top clients in Hillsboro, OR.

 

Pay is $22.50/hour.  This is an open ended contract that includes full benefits.

                     

Kelly Management Services                            
Engineering Technician II                            

Duties:
o    Remove and replace surface mount (down to 0402 sizes) and through-hole components on PCBs. 
o    Read schematics and board files to interpret component placement for remove/replace actions.
o    Disassembly and reassembly of Servers and/or PCs plus general (HDD) to unique support components (specialty device heat sinks) on motherboards.
o    Execute simple test steps from verbal and written instructions to verify PC fundamental functionality.
o    Follow first level debug steps to repair malfunctioning motherboards. 
o    Maintain debug, rework and testing job results history in tracking documents.
o    Lab operations maintenance including: Equipment maintenance and calibration scheduling, piece part and tools inventory maintenance, general cleanliness and safety configurations/protocols adherence.
o    Communicate work status, debug steps verbally on the phone or through email with customers.
o    Experience with Linux OS and conventions a plus.

Skills:
o    Good soldering and electro-mechanical assembly skills. Comfortable use of most all common hand tools used in a lab environment.
o    Familiar with typical PC operating systems particularly with setup and boot functions.
o    Competent with various Windows and DOS environments, conventions and build processes. Linux and others a plus.
o    Fundamental understanding of basic Windows file services, permissions and basic inter computer connectivity. 
o    Familiar with typical firmware (BIOS, BMC, CPLD) programming tools and process.
o    Good attention to detail particularly with PBA rework and component/board tracking information.
o    Adapts well to changing requirements and/or priorities.
o    Competent with popular Microsoft Office suite products – excel and Word are primary tools used.
o    Is able to take direction from written and verbal instructions. 
o    Ability to read and understand assembly instructions, schematics and understands standard electronic component symbols.

Requirements:
o    The candidate must be able to work several tasks successively in an independent manner.
o    This position can occasionally require extended periods of sitting while working at a bench.
o    This position can occasionally require extended periods of standing while working at a bench.
o    Competently understands the English language in the written and spoken form.
o    Possesses and exercises a good customer oriented attitude and behavior.
o    Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds on occasion.
