Job Title: Controller
Location: Onsite – Fraser, MI
Compensation: $50/hr+ (flexible based on experience)
Employment Type: Temp-to-Hire or Direct Hire

Job Description:
A fast-growing specialty food manufacturer based in Fraser, MI is looking for a Controller to take ownership of its accounting and financial operations. This is a high-impact, hands-on role where you'll partner closely with ownership and the production team to drive financial accuracy, transparency, and efficiency. We're seeking someone with a strong background in manufacturing accounting, who is proficient in QuickBooks, and thrives in a collaborative, entrepreneurial environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all day-to-day accounting functions: AP/AR, general ledger, and bank reconciliations

  • Run payroll and ensure compliance with state and federal tax requirements

  • Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports

  • Manage budgeting, cash flow forecasting, and financial planning

  • Maintain cost accounting records for inventory, product costing, and production analysis

  • Reconcile inventory to ensure accurate cost of goods sold reporting

  • Coordinate with external accountants for audits, year-end close, and tax filings

  • Implement and maintain strong internal financial controls

  • Work closely with leadership to track expenses, margins, and product line profitability

  • Optimize vendor payments, invoicing, and credit terms

  • Identify and lead process improvements to increase financial accuracy and operational efficiency

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Controller, Accounting Manager, or similar senior-level accounting role in a manufacturing setting

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field

  • Proficiency in QuickBooks is required

  • Solid understanding of cost accounting and inventory processes
