CNC Machine Operator – Sheet Metal Fabrication

Location: Farmington, CT
Employment Type: Direct Hire | Full-Time
Shift: Evening (2nd Shift)

Schedule & Compensation
  • Schedule: Monday–Friday | 3:30 PM–12:00 AM

  • Pay Rate: $23.33–$43.75/hour 

  • Shift Differential: 15% (after training)

  • Training: Conducted on 1st shift for approximately 4–6 weeks, then transition to 2nd shift

Position Overview

We are hiring a skilled CNC Machine Operators (Sheet Metal Fabrication) to join a high-performance manufacturing team in Farmington, CT. This role is ideal for precision-driven professionals who enjoy working with advanced CNC equipment and supporting early-stage production environments where processes are actively evolving.

You will play a key role in modern sheet metal production, operating CNC bending, laser cutting, and punching machines while contributing to process development and continuous improvement initiatives. This position offers long-term growth potential within a collaborative, quality-focused manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Set up and operate CNC bending, laser cutting, and punching machines

  • Support initial production runs, including fixturing, machining methods, and process development

  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work instructions

  • Inspect parts using calipers, protractors, tape measures, and other precision measuring tools

  • Ensure parts meet quality and specification requirements before moving to the next operation

  • Troubleshoot operating or programming issues related to laser-cut parts

  • Sort, stage, deburr, grind, and clean sheet metal parts per production orders

  • Perform routine machine and workspace maintenance using 5S and TPM principles

  • Monitor and manage sheet metal inventory within the storage system

  • Safely operate forklifts, overhead cranes, drill presses, power tools, air tools, and grinders

  • Participate in daily shop floor meetings and continuous improvement projects

  • Lift up to 70 lbs as required

Qualifications
  • 2–3+ years of CNC machining experience (sheet metal fabrication preferred)

  • Experience operating CNC bending, laser cutting, and punching machines

  • Strong blueprint reading and basic inspection skills

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment

  • Detail-oriented, organized, and quality-focused mindset

  • High school diploma or equivalent
