Kelly Science & Clinical has a new, permanent opportunity for a Chemist in Chicago, IL!
Shift: Sun. – Wed. OR Wed. – Sat. 10:00pm – 8:00am
Direct Hire Opportunity
Pay: $25-$30/hour

Principal Responsibilities:

• Analyzes raw, in-process, and finished products utilizing quality control testing procedures
• Documents test results
• Performs quality checks on equipment, products and packaging
• Collaborates with production workers and supervisors to troubleshoot packing defects and weights
• Prepares certificate of analysis paperwork for finished products in the QA manager's absence
• Formulates product samples for prospective customers and analyzes chemical makeup of competitors' products
• Calculates and re-blends raw materials or finished products that are out of specification
• Determines formulation of products in the absence of the operations manager or as needed
• Conducts special testing of products as needed  
• Maintains functionality and cleanliness of the lab and its equipment
• Communicates with USDA Inspector as needed
• Ensures compliance with SQF requirements and train other QC personnel
• Processes HACCP paperwork in the absence of the QC manager
• Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or equivalent experience 
• Able to speak, read, and write English
• 1 - 3 years practical experience in fats/oils or related industry
• Working knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office 
• Knowledge of HACCP, SSO, GMP, AOCS, and GLP
• Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs. (less than 10% of time)
• Able to stand or walk approximately 60% of each day, occasional stair climbing
• Must be able to work overtime as needed
