The CAD Designer is responsible for developing and maintaining complex 3D CAD models, assemblies, and the associated 2D drawings under moderate to heavy supervision. It will entail updating our truck body designs and a substantial focus on generating Solidworks 2D manufacturing drawings with standardized features, materials, and methods. This role will be assigned projects of moderate complexity and will work closely with the guidance of Design Engineering.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform all other duties and special projects as assigned. JOB INPUTS List the primary tasks that the incumbent will be expected to perform in this job.   • Create new custom truck body and truck upfit accessory CAD models and assemblies with best practice modeling techniques.
  • Create and maintain detailed manufacturing drawings following our engineering drawing standards.
  • Create and maintain CAD file structures in Enterprise PDM utilizing the folder structure, naming convention, and BOM strategy defined in our Engineering standards.
  • Create simplified Sales Drawing layouts of new concepts for client approval.
  • Create and follow-up on Engineering drawing releases by working closely with Holman Manufacturing team members.
  • Communicate closely with Design Engineering, Process Engineering, Manufacturing, Installation Operations and Purchasing,
  • Resolve design, drawing, and manufacturing issues in a timely manner.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 3 years of work experience in 3D modeling, design, and manufacturing drawings is required.
  • Working knowledge of GD&T fundamentals is required.
  • Previous experience with Sheetmetal design.
  • Associate's Degree in Technical Field, such as CAD Design, Engineering Technology, Product Design, or Manufacturing Technology preferred. Equivalent work experience and skills are also acceptable.
  • Advanced level proficiency with Solidworks or similar 3D CAD package.
  • Proficiency with Enterprise PDM or equivalent Product Data Management tool is preferred.
  • Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and Power Point
