Kelly Government Solutions is a strategic supplier and business partner to the federal government and its key suppliers.  Through our partnership with the National Institutes of Health, Kelly Government Solutions offers administrative, IT, engineering, scientific, and healthcare professionals the opportunity to work with the leading medical research center in the world.  We are seeking an individual to work as an Animal Biologist at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD


This is a long-term contract position which offers:

TASKS/SERVICES. The contractor shall: 

  1. Assist with training/orienting new lab folks/hires (postdocs, postbacs, students)
  2. Learn and/or assist with small animal surgical and non-surgical procedures.
  3. Assist in animal study protocol development and submission, updates and maintenance (establishment of new protocols and amendments).
  4. Assist in vitro and in vivo studies.
  5. Assist in basic cell biology and molecular biology experiments.
  6. management of lab website and lab membership database.

REQUIREMENTS. The contractor must have: 

  1. Master's degree in Biology, Life Sciences or a related discipline. Three (3) years of specialized experience plus a BA/BS degree is equivalent to a Master's degree
  2. Experience with mouse colony management.
  3. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive matters diplomatically and discreetly.
  4. Excellent organizational, leadership, and time management skills.
  5. Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  6. Previous NIH experience preferred.
  7. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and the Internet.
  8. Proficiency with FreezerPro and REDCap is preferred.
  9. Proficiency with remote meeting setup and online training is preferred.
  10. Demonstrated ability to plan, organize and prioritize work in an environment with multiple and conflicting demands.
  11. Ability to draft and format complex documents.
  12. Ability to multi-task and pay close attention to detail.
  13. Ability to exercise initiative and work independently.
  14. Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  15. Excellent analytical, organizational and time management skills.
