Kelly Science & Clinical is currently seeking candidates for an Analytical Lab Technician position at a specialty chemical company in North Houston. The overall responsibility of this role is to conduct routine and non-routine testing related to petrochemicals, specialty chemicals, and polymers in support of manufacturing plants, technical service groups, application development groups, and research groups.
Additional Job Responsibilities:
- Performing various wet chemistry and instrumental analyses on chemical products including ICP, Karl Fischer, Acid/Base Titrations, moisture titration by Karl Fischer, viscosity, density, flash point and freezing point determinations
- Performing routine calibration and maintenance of laboratory instrumentation
- Monitoring and troubleshooting performance of the analytical instrumentation
- Performing statistical analysis of data; preparing and presenting reports
- Prepare reagents, solutions, and standards as required
- General laboratory maintenance to ensure that the laboratory is in full compliance with all safety, environmental and health regulations and procedures
- Developing and refining analytical methods
- 5+ years of experience in a chemical testing lab with experience with most of the analytical techniques listed above
- AS/BS degree in Biology or other Life Science
- Good planning, organizational, verbal, and written communication skills
- Drive and motivation to learn and assume additional responsibilities as needed
- Computer proficient, especially with Excel (spreadsheets and charting), Adobe, Word and PowerPoint and willingness and desire to expand these skills further
- LIMS experience will be considered a plus
- Knowledge of statistical (SPC/SQC) techniques is preferred
