Accounting Manager – Accounts Payable

The Accounting Manager – Accounts Payable Manager will supervise the Accounts Payable function and drive essential accounting activities to improve financial reporting accuracy.  Overseeing reconciliations, preparing journal entries, and reviewing the work of A/P staff to ensure accuracy and quality. This role requires the ability to work independently and collaborate with team members to complete the accounting close process.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise the Accounts Payable function, ensuring accurate and timely processing of vendor invoices and payments.
  • Manage relationships with vendors to resolve billing discrepancies or issues.
  • Perform all related accounting functions required to maintain the general ledger in compliance with GAAP and company policies.
  • Stay updated on changes in GAAP impacting accounting and reporting.
  • Support the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements to ensure timely reporting.
  • Investigate and resolve budget variances, supporting the preparation of comprehensive quarterly departmental financial reports with detailed variance analysis.
  • Maintain monthly Balance Sheet and general ledger account reconciliations and analysis, including bank accounts, prepaid expenses, deposits, accrued expenses, capital leases, and fixed assets.
  • Prepare accruals, amortization, and allocation schedules to ensure financial statement accuracy.
  • Assist with financial audit preparations and tax returns.
  • Identify opportunities to improve and streamline accounting processes.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to accounting team members, fostering continuous learning and professional growth.
  • Proactively identify process improvement opportunities to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and controls within the accounting function.
  • Handle special projects as required.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of accounting experience, with at least three years in a corporate accounting role.
  • Accounting certification (CPA, CMA, CA) a plus.
  • Experience with NetSuite a plus.
  • Working knowledge of GAAP and tax laws.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Strong analytical and logical reasoning skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable financial laws, regulations, rules, and policies.
  • Ability to work with little to no supervision.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and work effectively in an entrepreneurial environment.
