Job Title: Accounting Clerk
Location: Melbourne, FL
Pay Range: $50,000 - $60,000 per year ($25 - $30 per hour, depending on experience)

We are seeking an experienced Full Charge Bookkeeper to manage all aspects of accounting for a commercial construction company. This temporary position may transition to a permanent role based on performance. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in bookkeeping, job cost accounting, AIA billing, and be familiar with Mechanics Lien laws and AIA documents. QuickBooks Desktop experience is required, and familiarity with Red Team Go (our project management software) is a plus. Key Responsibilities
Job Cost Accounting
- Prepare and review construction project job costs vs. budget and analyze variances.
- Handle AIA Billing for construction projects.
- Enter and process bills, invoices, and payments related to projects and overhead.
- Review items for proper approval and coding.
- Manage development loans and vendor files, including year-end creation of 1099s.
- Maintain cash requirements and perform annual reconciliation of property tax bills.
- Process monthly inter-company billing for employee time and expenses.
- Manage monthly close and journal entries.
- Complete bank reconciliations on time.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly financial reports, including notes to financial statements as needed.
- Prepare and reconcile monthly employee expense reports.
- Serve as backup receptionist and perform some office manager duties.
- Track lien releases from subcontractors and ensure compliance with lien laws.
- Assist with HR administration, including health insurance plan management.
- Ensure timely adherence to local, regional, state, and federal regulations, including IRS requirements, tax attorneys, auditors, and industry best practices.
- Education: Bachelor's degree preferred, but not required.
- Experience: Minimum 5 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in construction.
- Software Knowledge: QuickBooks Desktop experience required. Familiarity with Red Team Go is a plus.
- Construction Industry Knowledge: Familiar with Mechanics Lien laws and AIA documents.
- Skills: Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines effectively.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Detail-oriented with a strong sense of accountability.
- Ability to function effectively in a small office environment with a sense of humor and a positive attitude.
