The Associate Administrator is responsible for providing leadership and direction to employee and labor relations, and the leave of absence functions. The Associate Administrator directs, plans, and organizes all functions and activities within assigned areas, ensures compliance with regulatory and governing agencies and established Hospital standards, practices, and procedures.

Essential Duties:

  • EMPLOYEE AND LABOR RELATIONS SYSTEM SERVICES • Oversee ELR/LOA service delivery and support to system entities. • Deliver positive employee relations strategies across the healthcare system. • Reduce areas of risk across the workforce and engage key stakeholder departments in the partnership of risk reduction. • Enforce university policies and compliance with workforce requirements and employment and labor law. • Improve leadership knowledge and competencies of system leaders to include employment practices, employee and labor relations, collective bargaining administration, and equity and inclusion. • Oversee the absence management needs of the Keck workforce via an interactive case management process to ensure equity and efficiency in absence management programs. • Delivery of front-line leadership training. • Oversee ELR client service excellence feedback program. • Collaborate with system entity human resources leaders and HR centers of excellence. • Coordinates system ELR services with university HR partners and oversight departments including EEO/TIX, OPE, Risk, and OGC.
  • LEADERSHIP: • Participates in annual organizational goal planning • Develops high performing teams • Skilled communicator to diverse audience including but not limited to employees, executive staff, vendors, board members, donors, etc. • Timely response to inquiries; submission of required reports; documents, etc. • Provides analysis and recommendations for operational and financial improvements • Engages in self development and learning • Behaves with confidence, courtesy and positivity
  • PEOPLE: • Effectively manages employees including setting performance expectations, coaching, mentoring, providing development opportunities and fostering high functioning collaboration among employees. • Ensures meaningful and ongoing training, and education. • Selects new employees for hire based on skills, competency and fit. • Strong-interpersonal; relationship skills • Promotes teamwork and collaborative environment.
  • RESOURCE STEWARDSHIP: • Manages daily operating expenses per budget. • Participates in annual budget planning with executive and finance teams • Participates in annual capital needs review; prioritization and spending • Collaborates with Materials Management Department to ensure smooth processes for supply ordering, acquisition and distribution to service areas.
  • GROWTH: • Participates in short term and long term strategic planning • Assists in the development of new service proformas. • Key participant and leader in projects.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Req Bachelor's degree Degree in Business Administration or in a related field.
  • Req 5-8 years hands-on related field hospital/healthcare experience.
  • Req 5 years Experience in a leadership role
  • Req Demonstrates ability to utilize effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Req Commitment to results driven outcomes.
  • Req Demonstrated leadership and complex organizational management skills.
  • Req Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point.
  • Req Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
  • Req Must be comfortable in a collaborative, shared leadership environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Pref Master's degree Degree in Business Administration, Public Health, Health Administration, or in a related field.


Required Licenses/Certifications:

  • Req Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) If no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days of hire and maintained by renewal before expiration date. (Required within LA City only)

The annual base salary range for this position is $158,080.00 - $260,832.00. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state, and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.
